32a BIENAL DE SÃO PAULO
overspill: universal map
In this work the artist explores the organic and concrete nature of the world and presents the result of a research that mixes diverse interests and refers to the collapse of modern concepts of progress.
The total set of the work required several constructive techniques, including methods already known by Oficina São João and others that had to be learned. The OSJ produced 5 reinforced concrete benches, 4 shop windows with interne illumination, a styrofoam-lined sculpture, 4 tile panels coordinated the printing of the tiles with the artist's drawings and built the work at the exhibition site.
The sculpture was developed in colaboration with the artist through intense exchange of drawings, modeling images, prototypes and tests. The biggest challenge was to translate the artist's initial sketch into a constructive drawing that could be scaled to final size.
